The deckchairs are fantastic! I can't see the point of haggling with a seller, if you like something just buy it. You snooze, you lose!
ReplyDeleteThe bird picture must have taken someone ages. so pretty! x
My thoughts exactly vix , The embroidery was one the dealers missed at the jumble we was on about but it was not much good for anything else xxx
DeleteI believe that your lovely linens are hardanger embroidery........may i say that you have akeen eye for all things exquisite. Kathy
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathy , I love pretty things xxx
DeleteWow, those deck chairs are a real find, stunning! The linen looks like hardanger embroidery also known as Hardangersom which is Danish.
ReplyDeleteI was excited when i found the deckchairs and a bit angry with the other people interested in it when they would not py the very good price for them xxx
DeleteMy first thought is hardanger on pure linen so definitely handmade.xxxx
ReplyDeleteHello meg , Thank you , I have listed them now as hardanger , I am so enjoying myself at the moment most of the linen was sold stained but i am slowly soaking it in stain remover and washing it , I cant wait to show it off , The washing line is full at the moment as we have a rare sunny day xxx
DeleteI don't know why some people won't just pay a fair price for things, well done on getting the deckchairs and paying what the seller was asking. SOmetimes a rush to get a bargain can be upsetting for the seller, you did exactly the right thing.
ReplyDeleteThe linens are lovely, I used to sell so much handmade and embroidered stuff in my little shop. but I'm ashamed to say I never really did much research into what I was selling, I just appreciated the work and the beauty and tried to make a fair profit.
Your vintage linen is Lefkara Lace. Not lace at all, but a form of embroidery which was done on linen using silky cotton threads.

I have some pieces which have the same designs as yours that I bought in the late 70's. It washes well and the linen gradually becomes paler with each wash.
