Hello , If you are still there any of my old 110 followers
A Happy New year To you all
It's been a difficult year one way or another but i am hoping to put it behind me and have a better 2020 , Christmas was really quiet and upsetting as i lost my dad in April so it's the first christmas without him , I didn't make or bake anything for christmas this year
To be honest i have not been in the mood but after sampling bought christmas cakes , biscuits etc i have decided that's not going to happen again
I have plans for next year i am 60 in july and want to pass my driving test before i am too old, I am struggling with the hazard perception though, My husbands health issues made me realise there needs to be more than one driver ,I miss jumble sales and car boots we don't go anywhere now that will stress him out.
As you can see from my photo all my grey is nearly through and i am happy with it and the money i save , I have lots of things that i want done to he house in the new year so every penny counts , I have still bought some beautiful vintage items which if i carry on blogging i will share with you , Also my bargains , baking and creations
This sewing box was a gift to myself for christmas.
We had to have a walk in shower fitted because my husband loses his balance, I hated it but its not to bad now i have my bits and bobs around me.
This was an absolute bargain £10 from a charity shop.
The garden looked amazing this year i wish i could find my before photos so you can see the difference
Its the front garden that needs doing next year so will do before and after photos of that.
My Dad

Nice to see you'r blogging again
ReplyDeleteThankyou , I hope to have lost of interesting things to blog about xxx
DeleteHappy New Year to you and your's Shabby. Lovely to see you back. So sorry about your Dad - I can relate to that and it is always the firsts that are the most painful. Some lovely finds there as usual. Here is hoping this New Year treats everyone better. Take care Pattypan xx
ReplyDeleteHello Patricia , Yes its been tough but it should get better with time xxx
DeleteWhat a nice post for the New Year. I think you look very young for 59! This month my Dad would have been 100! I will be thinking of him for sure as I turn 75 three days after that.
ReplyDeleteYou have done a lot on the house and garden and I wish you a very Happy New Year.
Thanks jan , i did worry that the great might make me look older lol , Happy New year to you too xxx
DeleteI love the grey- you look wonderful, and nowhere near 60.
ReplyDeleteI'll be 55 next month, the same age my dad was when he died, 25 years ago. It was 3 days before my 30th birthday, and I was 3 months pregnant, and it felt like the world had ended. It changed my life in so many ways, but I promise that it does get easier with time.
Fingers crossed that the driving goes well, and you're able to get out and about under your own steam very soon. xx
I don't think we can comment on your blog posts, but lovely to read your words here Scarlet. Those are kind sentiments to shabbychicvintage-I still have bouts of sadness for my parents and life before, but it helps to share the pain and accept comfort from others.
DeleteHello scarlet , Thanks for your kind words , At least i had my dad a lot longer than you did , I am hoping its going to change my life for the better , that's what pushed me into driving as life to short for iff and butts , when i can master the hazard perception i will put in for my theory test which i passed years ago with no problems but now they have added the hazzard part i am hoping it wont stop me xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your loss. The first of everything is a challenge, and no doubt you will have occasions special to you and your dad that will bring about the memories in a flood. Be kind to your self when that happens. I am happy to read your boog and see the beautiful garden pictures. I would treasure that in the spring, summer, and fall. I hope you decide to keep blogging as I enjoy seeing your finds so much, but it needs to bring you joy.
ReplyDeleteThanks SAM , I think i will carry on , I have enjoyed the nice comments and have missed it xxx
DeleteHi Eileen, your hair really does suit you, sorry to hear about your dad.
ReplyDeleteIt really nice to see you here blogging again. As you know I have had my ups and downs with blogging but I am sticking with it now, I am not pretending to be anything I'm not and I am not writing anything too personal anymore just what is says under my blog title "Writing about everyday money saving, buying second-hand from charity shops and car boot sales, yellow sticker shopping, freebies, recycling and reusing, sharing recipes and more." at the end of the day we will always be on a limited small income and are happy with that, we manage to live well enough by living frugally and buying second hand, meals are simple as well.
Marlene xx
Hello Marlene , Thanks ,i think as long as you keep the comments to have approval before they are published you should be ok , we have a lot in common as you know , I might be able to get to an asda when i pass my test xxx
DeleteHappy New Year to you and Dave!!
ReplyDeleteThose special occasions and anniversaries are so difficult. My Mum loathed Xmas but I still find it hard.
Your Dad was a handsome man, that's a lovely photo.

The bathroom looks great as does the garden.
Good luck with the driving, you're a braver woman than I! xxxx
Thanks vix , I haven't phoned my mom today as i don't know how to react when she cries and i know she will be today , I am not a huggy kissy peron i keep my emotions to myself , Niki made that photo for me with one of my dad and one of me when i was little and framed it , I am happy with my hair now , It will be completely out next year , Might see you at the boot sales if i pass lol xxx

ReplyDeleteAnd gray is beautiful! You're young yet!
The photos of your yard are so beautiful. At age 71, I (we) are thinking of ways to minimize outdoor work while increasing our pleasure in its sights and comforts.😄
Thanks REbecca , Its amazing how aging changes the way we do things because of health issues we can't do the sights bit so 1 get pleasure in doing a bit of gardening when i can xxx
