Just a quickie

At the moment i am painting the kitchen.
its almost finished but i needed a break from it and decided to do a bit of sewing.
I will be posting the pictures next week but just wanted to show you these.

I need some new tea towels and prefer the thicker quality of normal hand towels but they tend to be expensive so i used these
towels from my aunties house.

with a Dylon Dye and some fabric left over from making a new cafe curtain for the kitchen .

I made these. 2 down 7 to go.

Will be back within the week.

Bargains and free stuff

There were no jumble  but i still have found some bargains with other things this week

Easter Eggs.

In the town where we used to live there is a warehouse that sells out of date or near by date food.
Its mainly things like crisps sweets etc , I dont buy the cakes as i make them but you can find some real bargains sometimes,
like these Thornton's Easter eggs that retail at around £15 but only cost me £2.50 each.

Then on the way back i popped into Morrison's and picked up some bargain meat wich will feed us for lots of meals i just need to make a meal plan to see how much i can stretch it.

Then i bought this dressing table of ebay for £25.00.
It needs some TLC and a paint , The handles are not complete so am not sure what to do with them yet .
I might look on ebay  see if i can get a replacement  for the top two draw handles.

And last but not least , I managed to finally get something i wanted of free cycle.
A  Lovely  lady named Carrie was advertising a small pair of vintage Velvet curtains, so when she said i could have them i was very pleased and very grateful to her.
Even more so when i got there she gave me a  mirror and a trunk too ,The  trunk has  gone to far for doing up so i am going to use it to make a herb bed in the garden.
I took her some cakes as a thank you and she said my Victoria sandwich cake was the best she had ever tasted and has said she has another small lamp table that i can have .
 Chuffed to say the least.

Busy , Busy ,Busy

I am really busy at the moment with a couple of projects on the house that are ongoing,
Since recovering the sofa i have decided that i want colour and getting the look right is proving a problem with little money and the fact that we need to sort out comfortable seating

The other problem i have is the sofa we bought about a year and a half ago is is to low and with my aliments its difficult to get out of so i am selling it but as i got it for such  a bargain in the first place  i should get most if not all of our money back .

Dave's chair is a rise and recline chair that he needs, not wants ,but it was only a cheap one and the seat pad has lost its support so we need to replace that too , That will be a challenge finding one that is value for money.

As we have a small living room and the fact that we have a limited budget i need to sell the sofa first so its on Ebay at the moment and i have 5 watchers , hopefully i will get what i want for it , But i will re list it until it sells.

One thing i can show you is the TV cabinet , First it looked like this

Then we did it like this but to many flowers did not look right with the sofa.

So now it looks like this. The sun has over exposed the pictures , It looks much better in than in the pictures.

Here are some of my latest finds.

The pictures were £1.60 for all of them.

Two pretty Tea sets

Ans some other bargains this week

From the co op , hot cross buns and chicken thighs , 40p and £1.25.

Poundland plants can be bargains if you are prepared to wait

Well the suns shinning so i am in housework mode for once, lol

Its done

I just have to fiddle about with the velvet on the front of the cushions as its not fixed one side and i need to level them up , I decided not to go with the braiding in the end.

All made out of two pair of curtains , A tablecloth, Trims of torn tablecloth and Tray cloth some sheets and other bits of fabric i had at hand all bought from jumble sales in the past year.
The before picture in case you missed it.

What do you think .

Its coming along

Its taking time but if i rush it i tend to make mistakes.
The patchwork sofa is coming along , The most difficult part for me next is  the seat pad covers  , I  am  going to unpick the originals and have a go at them over the next week .
I dont know if i will manage the piping or not but i will have a go. I dyed the Antique lace on the top of the cushion with tea bags .

All the fabric so far is stuff i have picked up from jumble sales and its not cost any more than £20 , I think you will either love it or hate it.

Just two vintage finds this week.

I am always one step in front , This tea set was picked up recently and will go in my kitchen when it has a new lick of paint in the summer.

This medal was in a box of jewellery i purchased , Rare to find one in its original  box.

Customising budget flat pack furniture.

If you remember , I am doing up the spare room and we needed a wardrobe.
In the past Dave has built everything we needed furniture wise buying the wood from B&Q
 Now health issues wont allow.
So we had a Dilemma, how do we  purchase a wardrobe that didn't cost a lot but had some style , I would have loved a vintage bedroom suite but as we have no way of getting it here or even getting it up the stairs because there is a tight bend to conquer.

After looking at various on line pages of big stores including Ikea i was surprised to find this wardrobe at B & Q for the Amazing price of £95.00 , Its very big and really good quality for the price paid and most importantly it was flat packed and delivered free so we are really chuffed.

Most people would just leave it like it is but as you know i always like to create my own style so i gave it a makeover with the wallpaper that i got from a jumble sale for £1.50 , When i find some bargain knobs i will change them too , This is the start of the bedroom revamp.

Let the projects begin

There are a lot of projects that i have been putting on the back burner for one thing or another and have now decided for various reasons to start the long list of things i want to do.  Starting with the sofa below , It fits into the room OK but after seeing the Money for Nothing program with Sarah Moore i was inspired by the patchwork sofa she did and have decided to have a go.

Before.
I love the shape of this sofa

A doubled up duvet cover is the start bought for £1.00.
Thanks to my friend mel for Ironing out all the tiny creases with her super iron.

So far so good.

I will keep you posted.

Some new auction finds

Berlin work  rather worn in places on the net part, Still beautiful though.

Welsh Embroidery.

A sampler from the 1800's

This pair are one's  that i dont want to let go.

A signed miniature with piano key frame.

This next lot are Art Nouveau silver.

Being  frugal it was grieving me that in the  last lot of Teapots I bought   were four black Victorian Teapots damaged  , I knew when i bought the lot but off set the cost with the perfect ones  it was still bugging me that i would have to discard them .
So  i am going to have a go at repairing them with some epoxy putty i bought on line and some black paint but was wondering if you have any tips on what i could use for the glaze , The only thing i can think of is  clear nail polish.
