It been a while

Its been a while since my last blog but i am so busy mainly buying and  preparing the stock for my business but its been worth it,  I have picked up some great finds,But i am still being as frugal as ever ,yesterday i made these boxes for trinkets to sell on my stall,

Most of the  boxes were given to me by my friend Mel and  a few were included in job lots i have purchased from auction   , They were from gifts they had received as a family but all of them had the names of the maker of the gift embossed on the front of the box. , so i was thinking how i could get rid of the names.

Earlier this year on the market i saw some transfer sheets , Very big in the eighties but not many people want them now , Included in the 15 sheets i bought for £5.00 were the robin ones ( i have plans for the birds one i picked up too ) , So this is what i did with them

I am chuffed with the result .

I also made my first mince pies of the year yesterday.

My Beautiful vintage finds.

Stunning Marcella bedspread .

Pretty portrait brooch.

Crinoline lady is always popular.

Irish Linen sheets and pillowcases , Never used.

Double Damask Irish Linen table cloth with orignal labels

A sweet little Antique Purse.

Vintage  glass and enamel necklace.

A beaded roses vintage handbag.

On the health front i have had the test , It wasn't very nice but you just have to get on with it if you want to be diagnosed , I have polyps they say they look fine but have done a biopsy to be on the safe side as the pattern was unusual , But i need to say our local hospital has had so much bad press lately but the staff were fantastic and the procedure was made much easier by there care and professionalism,

  1. You do find the most amazing things.
    The boxes look gorgeous.
Glad you now have a diagnosis for your health problem. I think you cope so much better when you know what you are dealing with.

  3. Welcome back, have missed your posts! Hope all will be well re the polyps, but best to have biopsies done.
I love your new purchases, especially the Double damask table cloth. I hope you will get a good price for it. There is nothing nicer that a pure white damask table cloth for dinner (especially if accompanied by silver flat ware and cutlery, cut glass and porcelain ... but then, I love to see a table nicely laid ... which reminds me of the Betjeman poem "How to Get on in Society"! (First line, as perhaps you will know, "Phone for the fish knives, Norman ..."!)

    2. I'm not keen on poetry in general, either, Sheila, but some of John Betjeman's poems are wonderful - he was very observant, and this is poem is a real send-up of all that is Non-U (you do know about Nancy Mitford's U and Non-U?) It is Non-U to say "serviette" when the correct way is "napkin", to say "toilet" when the correct term is "lavatory" and so forth. This poem is a hoot, I just love it but, as I say, I'm not mad keen on poetry in general. But do look this poem up, you can Google it, I'm sure.

  8. Those robin embellished boxes are absolutely lovely, you've done a great job with those. I don't know anyone who doesn't like robins.
I've got my Great-Grandmother's silver finger purse, its very similar to yours! xxx

  9. Oh, you have done a wonderful job on those boxes! They are beautiful and have been transformed by the robin transfers to things of beauty.

I love the bedspread. I have something similar which I got from Freegle so it was free, but it's from Laura Ashley! I love washing it at a 90 degree wash as it always comes out looking brand new.

You have found some wonderful things.

    Best wishes for your biopsy.
