I am feeling a bit miffed today about a TV Program that we watched last night about overweight people.
On the program there was this very large lady who has sleep Apnea ,
She announces on the TV to the nation that her Apnea is because she is overweight ,
So Today i had to go to Citi Hospital in Birmingham to get my new sleep mask and asked the specialist , If i loose weight will my Apnea Disappear ,She looked at my history and mine was that i stopped breathing 36 times an hour times an hour and anything over 30 was severe .
She said that they have stick thin people with sleep apnea so its not always a weight thing.
Why do these programs portray untruths ,
After the program i was thinking everybody who watched this now thinks if they know me that my Apnea is caused by my weight ,
I have joined weight watchers anyway as i am not very good at motivating myself, I have tried for the last few months and I dont like slimming world ,
After seeing this photo of me at my brother's wedding this last weekend and feeling upset
After not being able to find anything in my size without breaking the bank.
Our daughter has paid for me to go for the next three months , I cant let her down or for that matter myself for my health as the last blood test found sugar and have to have a re test in 3 months ,This has all happened for not being as active as i used to be due to health reasons.
But most of all i was inspired by my freind Vix https://vintagevixon.blogspot.co.uk , I have been married for 40 years next june and will be 58 so would like to be a lot lighter and more happy with my weight at that time.
Some more photos from the wedding.
My mom & Dad , Sister & Brother ( The groom )
The bride was tiny she looked beautiful.

The bridesmaids were so sweet , My great Niece is in the middle she did so well.
And the local revamped conservative club in Wednesbury was fantastic.

What a lovely wedding - and where DID you find your dress?!? It is beautiful (and in my favorite color combination). "Slimming" isn't fun, but I wish you success on your journey and imagine you'll quite enjoy the results of your sincere and honest efforts.
ReplyDeleteIt was a jacques Vert dress and jacket , Quite honestly it was not my usual style but i did feel better than i usually do , I am looking forward to the challenge ahead , Thanks Rebecca xxx
DeleteLose weight for your self and your health, but I will pipe in that you looked beautiful in the pictures. The dress and colors suit you well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sam , I did feel better than i usually do but it was the inspiration that i need xxx
DeleteSuch beautiful photos from the wedding. It was lovely to see you in all your finery, you looked amazing. Don't be too down hearted about the programme not everyone believes everything that is said on TV. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you , I get so angry with people tarring everybody with the same brush xxx
DeleteYou look beautiful. That dress is fantastic and both the bride and the Con club look great.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cheek about the TV programme. Of course it's not weight related. That's just lazy journalism.
I hope the Weight Watchers membership gives you the confidence boost you need. It's a thoughtful gift from your daughter and having the support of a group of like-minded people should be a real help.
Good luck. I know you can do it.
Take heart in the knowledge that you're a stunningly attractive woman whatever weight you are. xxx
Thanks vix , You always make me feel better , I will be keeping a log of my weight loss on my blog xxx
ReplyDeleteAs SAM says...'lose weight for you and your health' and ignore that woman. My husband had sleep apnea and at the time he wasn't overweight. Now he is a little overweight and he doesn't have sleep apnea anymore so just because hers is blamed on her weight doesn't mean that is the cause of everybody's.
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous in your beautiful outfit-x-
Thats weird his Apnea has disappeared when he put on weight , Its amazing how different it can be for each individual though , This is the point i was trying to make entirely xxx
DeleteWhen I was diagnosed with sleep apnea my consultant wanted to refer me for gastric banding which I refused. At my next visit he realised that to get my sleep apnea down to a reasonable level I would need to lose too much weight (I think I would only be 5 or 6 stone) so he concluded that it was probably genetic. I have lost 2 stone over the last seven years but my husband and I have both recently joined Slimming World so hopefully we will both loose weight and improve our health. I'm also a diabetic so loosing weight is necessary.
ReplyDeleteOMG , Like I said the the last reply , Everybody is different , Good luck with slimming world i find doing weight watchers is cheaper as i can eat what we have in moderation as long as i point it xxx
DeleteYou look stunning regardless of your weight - 'magazine worthy' in the wedding pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks Melanie xxx
DeleteI think you lovely at the wedding. I am slightly overweight and could do to lose some and the older one becomes, the harder it is to lose it, or to change eating habits to prevent any weight loss returning. But I have to say your outfit is gorgeous, you look beautiful.

Thanks Margaret , I think you have hit the nail on the head by aying changing eating habits on a permanent basis xxx
DeleteI have snored since childhood, apparently my tonsils should have been taken out, at almost sixty they're not going to do it now, fat or thin I've snored, loudly, diagnosed with severe sleep apnoea last year and finding out, irregular heartbeat, type two diabetes and hypertension are all aggravated by sleep apnoea, I just accept it's genetic. Eat and exercise sensibly and if you lose some weight, wonderful if not concentrate on being the healthiest you can be. Look at family photographs and you'll get some idea of the genetic predisposition you have. By the way you look gorgeous in these photos. Good luck.

I too have an irregular heart beat and was put on Tildiem but the problem with these is they hinder weight loss so i need to be very good and change my eating habits for good , All my family and my nan , great nan have all been big women but i want to change that xxx
DeleteWell I think you are gorgeous as you are, inside and out! I did Weight Watchers six years ago and have kept the weight off, it's all about eating sensibly and moving more but I know the exercise bit might be a struggle for you because you are often in pain - to reassure you though it doesn't need to be all leaping around or running -walking, yoga and seated cardio exercises (yes these do exist!) using your arms to get your heart rate up will all help. Good luck lovely lady xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracey , Thats nice to now about you doing weight watchers and it stayed off as i have been talking to some people today , In the jumble queue lol , They said 95 % of people put the weight back on so you have proved them wrong even if you are only in th 5% ,But its about changing my eating habits for good , I do do yoga Barbra curries Dvd but need to see if i can do it more often xxx
ReplyDeleteDon't be too hard on yourself! You look lovely in those pics and your outfit is super. One day at a time.
ReplyDeleteThanks , I need to do it for my health as well as how i feel xxx
DeleteI think you look beautiful but if you are not happy with yourself the I know how you feel. If you can find a way to change what/how/when you eat, then with your daughter's support, you will succeed. Good luck-As a fellow weight struggler, I support you all the way. Again, you looked beautiful at the wedding. Catriona
ReplyDeleteThanks ,Yes its all about how you feel and i feel that i want and need to loose weight to feel more comfortable xxx
DeleteI think you looked beautiful. Lose weight by all means if that's what you want, but in the meantime enjoy your glowing skin, sparkling eyes and warm smile. You're looking pretty good Missus. Blessings and Peace
ReplyDeleteAww thanks Lesley , I do try to look as good as i possibly can but i need to do it for my health more than anything , Not doing too badly at the moment either , will blog about journey too that that will help me keep on track xxx
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures of you and the wedding. You look very glamorous and I love your outfit.
ReplyDeleteIf you're not happy with your weight then it's good you want to do something about it and you have the motivation with your daughter's generous offer - but don't worry about other people or what others say. It's what you think and want that matters.
Sleep apnea is a terrible condition that I have been suffering with for the past year. It takes a serious toll on your health, mentally and physically. Not to mention the media either downplays the condition or exaggerates it in a way that most people won't understand. I believe in myself and my medical professional is an expert in the condition. Beautiful wedding, by the way!
