Bye Bye to my last brand

Shopping at Aldi  , I dont buy brands most of the time
But there are a few that i have have never found an Alternative  for until now and one of them is Fairy Liquid.

I have always thought it to be more superior than all the other Brands.
plus anything from Lidl or Aldi did not match the quality especially for soaking burnt on stuff.

Do you remember the advert about soaking cooking pots in Fairy.

Well it was really good for that, but now  they have changed it, i am sure they have because it doesn't soak of the burnt on stuff  so well.

I thought it was me until my sister in law was talking about being converted to Aldi and she said even fairy liquid has changed.

 so this confirmed my thinking.

There are a few things i like from Morrison's but i cannot find an Alternative to Quick jell and Blancmange

The cherries were the start of my Christmas cake Ingredients they were only £1.00.

Today's bargain from Home Bargains 59p

Cookery Books , Do you still use them.

Most of the time i use the internet for recipes but still have a few favourite cookbooks  , My Dog Eared Delia Smith ones are my favourite.

Vintage cook books from jumble sales.

And collected from charity shops the collection below.

  6. The only branded goods I buy are Barry M! Lidl's and Wilko all the way.
I quite like the odd vintage recipe book for the hideous photos but the internet wins when it comes to recipes. xxx

  7. I use cook books, magazines and the net but lately all my "new" recipes come from blogland. Nothing like a tried and trusted recipe to guarantee success. I do make most of my meals up as I go though.

  8. I have lots of cookery books but all the recipes I use are in a folder in plastic pockets!
Fairy and other brands similar are too strong and contain chemicals that do not break down so I use Ecover it's very good for hands and good for the water table too and good for washing up of course!

  10. I love the Aldi washing-up liquid - much better than branded types, IMHO - though I was very impressed with some Ecover that I got when it was on special offer in the local Co-op.

My favourite recipe book is a very old and very tatty copy of 'The Complete Rose Elliot'. She is the doyenne of vegetarian recipes and I still use that book at least once a week even after all the years I've owned it. Elizabeth.

  11. Whoops I just realised I sent my comment as a message to you! Sorry!!!

    I'll re-type it here!

I love lidl's own brand. It does the job just the same as any of the branded ones.

I love old cookbooks. I have a big collection, all from car boots. I'm a cookbook nerd, I love to read them in bed! X
