Jumble season has begun

Jumble sales are few and far between in the summer months but within September they come much more regular sometimes three in one weekend , We dont do car boot sales now as they are usually on very uneven fields around here and Dave cant walk round them , so stock has been dwindling and now i have chance to stock up.

This weeks finds are.

I used to sell this in the chemist that i worked at in the 1970s.

I love this funky saucepan.

The colour of this Johnson brothers part set is gorgeous.

A pair of matching lamp shades, Wishing i could keep these, The small wood lamp was from a Jumble sale last month.

The food we have eaten this week include home made steak pie, Shepherds pie and bread pudding
wich was made out of the frozen stale bread i stash in the freezer until i have enough to make one ,
This weeks spend is £10 , This was for 3 lots of frozen fish from Iceland . So two weeks in and and the spend is just under £100 we have only just touched the food so i am hoping to stretch it even further than a month.

I forgot the photograph this up cycled linen box for the before picture that Dave made years ago.
It was stained an orange pine colour , The fabric is some i bought from a charity shop years ago , I have already used it on a stool and a chair in the bedroom

  1. Ah, yes! Heaven Sent! I wore it then (70's) and wear it now as I found a few vintage bottles awhile ago and find it just as fresh and alluring as ever! ♥

    1. Its true you dont have to spend a fortune to smell nice , I could not spend £50 on a bottle of perfume like some women do xxx

  5. My favourite (and very first 'real' perfume) was Sandalwood (by Coty, I think). I loved it and was quite sad when they stopped producing it. I adore the fabric, shabby, it's so pretty and you've made a lovely job of the recovering x

  6. Some lovely finds there my first proper perfume was Wind Song by Prince Matchabelli - first boyfriend bought it as a present. Have not seen it since but remember it was very light. you are doing well on the food front too. I remember the saucepan pattern - the ones I was bought as a wedding present when I was 19 were bright orange with a black motif on. Love the fabric on the ottoman/bedroom set and what you have done with it. looks lovely. Very professional. Wish I had a place where I could play. One day. Bread pudding used to make it regularly when the kiddies were home and every so often still make it - its always been a firm favourite and makes a little go a long way. One of my favourite perfumes was pure silk by Yardley - you just do not see it anymore. The lamps and shades are lovely they look a matching set. I can see why would want to keep them. Mine are upstairs in the junk room. Even though I do not have the room to play seeing all the lovely things you do is really inspiring me and I am keeping careful notes of the things that I really like - bit of a scrap book to go to when things turn around. Did you keep the Tiffany style lamp or did you move it on. I am still waiting for my ones from the States to arrive. I like johnsons pottery and have a few piece of the Golden Dawn but you have a lovely part set there. hope you get yourself all stocked up again. I bought the Chinese style tablecloth throw that was in the auction which finished yesterday. it looks stunning. Now have to got to bring the horns in a bit. I quite like buying off ebay but I think I am going to have to try and shift some stuff before I get anymore. I think OH will be taking me down to the unit at the weekend to divest some more items from the junk room into the store. I really want to get sorted with some of my ufos on the craft front. hopefully I will be able to settle soon. oOHPS my fingers are running away with me.

    Catch you soon

  9. The linen box looks great, well done you! I am going to my first jumble sale of the year on 1st October which is one I go to every year. It's been a bit hit and miss the last few years but I did get the most gorgeous, warm Welsh wool blanket last year for £1 which I know probably cost £100's new so that was well worth the 20p entry fee! I love jumble sales.

  11. You certainly have some good vintage stuff there! Oh, how perfumes do take us back ... my first proper perfume was Miss Dior which my mother bought me on a trip to London in 1956 (I was 11 years old!) She was a great believer in 'good' perfume, and her favourite was Arpege by Lancôme, but the Arpege of today isn't the Arpege of the 1950s by a long way! Another favourite of mine, from the 1950s is Je Reviens by Worth. In the 1950s that was quite an expensive perfume, not the bargain basement one of today, ditto L'Aimant by Coty (a lovely fragrance.)
But an anyone remember Bond Street by Yardley, which I loved, very sophisticated even though it was heavy, and also Memoire Cherie by Elizabeth Arden, which I had in 1964 for our wedding ... I wish that was still available!
